[10/2 Admin] Device/File Logging Feature Update
🚀 MonitorDog Introduces the New ‘Device/File Logging’ Feature
📢 MonitorDog Admin’s security auditing capabilities just got stronger.
You can now use the new Device/File Logging feature to closely monitor and track every device and file activity in your organization.
🔍 Background
Data breaches are no longer caused only by external attacks.
USB drives, external HDDs, and personal cloud storage have become blind spots in internal security, as they are considered “legitimate” storage devices.
This update addresses those blind spots by introducing comprehensive monitoring and logging of all device and file activities within your organization.
🧩 Key Updates
📁 File Event Monitoring
- Automatically logs when files are created, deleted, renamed, or modified
- Identifies the true format through binary-based MIME type analysis rather than simple extension checks
- Displays a mismatch badge when the file extension and actual MIME type do not match
💽 External Device Monitoring
- Real-time detection and logging when external devices (USB, CD-ROM, smartphones, etc.) are connected or disconnected
- Supports screen lock and activity logging based on organization and user-level policies
- Detailed control by detection mode (Do Not Disturb / Auto Lock / Read-Only, etc.)

🎯 Expected Benefits of the 'Device/File Logging' Feature
💡 This update aims to provide complete visibility into internal data activity and proactively block data leakage through storage devices.
1️⃣ Tracking Internal Data Movement
All file creation, deletion, and modification activities are logged, enabling you to visualize the full movement of data within your organization.
This helps detect and prevent unauthorized duplication, tampering, or deletion of important files in advance.
2️⃣ Preventing Data Leakage via External Devices
When an external storage device is connected, the system automatically locks the screen or generates logs according to your organization's policy.
If the policy requires admin approval to unlock, the screen remains locked until an administrator authorizes access.
This minimizes the risk of data leakage through physical storage media.
